If you own a restaurant or food service business in NSW, a grease trap is not just important—it’s mandatory. Grease traps are designed to hold wastewater from your kitchen, allowing grease and oil to rise and separate, ensuring cleaner water flows to the sewer system. At All Day Plumbing, our expert team instals grease traps that comply with local regulations and enhance the efficiency of your kitchen operations.
Ensure your business is compliant and your plumbing system is efficient by choosing All Day Plumbing for your grease trap installation. Reach out to us today!
A properly installed grease trap can prevent costly plumbing problems, such as blockages and backups, by trapping Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) before they enter the sewer system.
This not only protects your plumbing but also helps in maintaining environmental standards.
In NSW, installing a grease trap is a legal requirement for businesses that cook or serve hot food. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in hefty fines, operational disruptions, and potential closure of your business. A properly installed grease trap by All Day Plumbing ensures that you meet all local regulations, giving you peace of mind and allowing you to focus on what you do best—running your business.
In Sydney, all wastewater from food preparation areas, floor wastes, kitchen sinks, and dishwashers must be discharged directly into the grease trap.
Before an installation for your retail food business or food processing plant, you must apply and be approved for a connection to discharge trade wastewater.
We can apply on your behalf with your permission. We do need the property owner or a managing agent on the property owner’s behalf to approve the application before we send it in. Once submitted, Sydney Water will make an assessment and send back an outcome within 21 days that provides details for what you must do to be able to safely and responsibly get connected.
This is also a Trade Waste Agreement, and it includes responsibilities for anyone or any company who connects, that continue after the grease trap installation, other pretreatment requirements, and the connection itself.

The cleaning frequency for your grease trap depends on its size and the amount of greasy wastewater your business produces. Sydney Water sets these guidelines and uses a system called Wastesafe (an electronic tracking system) to track grease trap waste.
Regular cleaning by an authorised Wastesafe transporter is crucial to prevent wastewater from entering the sewer, avoid overflows, and eliminate odours. During each service, the transporter will pump out the waste and clean the grease trap.
