Repairing broken sewer pipes
When a sewer keeps blocking, the pipe itself is often the problem: an old earthenware pipe that has cracked, a joint that roots have grown into, or a section that has collapsed. We find the damage with a CCTV drain camera before anything is dug up.
We then dig down to the damaged section, replace it with new PVC pipe and add an inspection point for future maintenance where it helps. The price is fixed before we start.

Greystanes, August 2026: a broken sewer pipe replaced under a concrete path
After a bathroom and laundry renovation, the owners noticed their sewer blocking up. We ran our CCTV drain camera through the sewer and found a broken earthenware pipe under the concrete path. We cut the concrete, dug down to the pipe, removed the broken section and laid new PVC sewer pipe with an inspection point. We tested the sewer, bedded the new pipe in blue metal, backfilled and re-concreted the path.
Wentworthville, August 2026: a collapsed sewer shaft replaced
A property had ongoing sewer blockages. We inspected the line with CCTV and found a collapsed shaft. We dug down to it, removed the damaged pipework and installed a new sewer shaft with a new branch connection and an inspection opening. The trench was backfilled, the area tidied and the sewer tested.
Dural, October 2026: a collapsed sewer pipe beneath a paved area
A school had sewer blockages caused by a collapsed section of sewer pipe. We renewed the affected pipework, added a sewer inspection point and reinstated the paved surface after the work.

Choosing the repair
Where a pipe has collapsed or broken badly, the damaged section is dug up and replaced. Where it is cracked or has roots in its joints but is still in shape, relining can seal it from the inside without digging. See pipe relining.
Pipes broken while digging
In Kings Park in October 2026, the owners were removing concrete and digging down the side of their house when they hit the sewer and stormwater pipes. We dug around every pipe that needed replacing, removed the broken sections and installed new sections of pipe.
What does a sewer repair cost?
The price is fixed before any work starts. It depends on:
- How deep the pipe is and what’s on top of it, such as concrete or paving.
- How much pipe needs replacing.
- Whether relining is an option instead.
