Too high or too low?
We check the pressure with a gauge, find what’s causing the problem and fix it. High pressure is usually brought down with a pressure limiting valve on the water line. Low pressure at one tap is often a blocked aerator or a worn part inside the tap.

Pendle Hill, July 2026: water pressure brought down from over 700 kPa
The customer called because their water pressure was too high. We checked it with our water pressure gauge, and it read just over 700 kPa. We installed a pressure limiting valve on the water line, then tested again with the gauge, and the pressure had dropped to under 500 kPa. Then we cleaned up.
Greystanes, September 2026: low pressure at a kitchen tap fixed
A kitchen sink had low water pressure. We removed the tap’s aerator and found it completely blocked with debris that had come through the water line. We replaced the aerator and tested it: the pressure was back to normal.
Castle Hill, October 2026: low shower flow caused by old washer pieces
The occupants reported weak water flow from their showers. We removed the shower fittings and found worn rubber tap-washer pieces that had travelled through the shower hose and become trapped at the shower head. We cleared the rubber debris, put the fittings back together and tested the shower. The flow returned to normal without a new shower being needed.

When the pressure is too high
For a home, the Australian plumbing standard sets a limit of 500 kPa. Pressure above 500 kPa can void the warranty on many water fixtures inside a property, such as basin, shower and bath mixers. At a Pendle Hill property in July 2026, our gauge read just over 700 kPa before we fitted a pressure limiting valve, and under 500 kPa after.
When the pressure is too low
If only one tap is affected, a blocked aerator is a common cause. If every tap is low, the cause is usually elsewhere in the supply, and we check that instead. What seems like low pressure can also be reduced flow through a blocked shower head or hose.
What does a water pressure check cost?
The price is fixed before any work starts. It depends on:
- The check itself, with a gauge.
- The fix, such as a pressure limiting valve or a new aerator.
- Access to the meter and the pipes.
