PROJECT COMPLETED 2026

Jannali High School

Stormwater Rectification project

School Infrastructure NSW engaged all Day Group to deliver the Stormwater Rectification project at The Jannali High School (Contract ID: SINSW-24-26090), with a contract value of $318,885.60 incl. GST.

The works involved rectification of the existing stormwater infrastructure to address performance deficiencies, internal drainage failures and overland flow issues within a live secondary school environment. Delivered under a limited tender procurement process, the project required detailed coordination, staged excavation, renewal of deteriorated pipework, installation of new drainage lines and pits, system capacity upgrades, and full surface reinstatement to ensure compliance with NCC 2022 and relevant Australian drainage standards.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The objective of the Stormwater Rectification Project at The Jannali High School was to rectify deficiencies in the existing stormwater infrastructure and improve overall site drainage performance within a live secondary school environment. The project aimed to deliver a compliant, reliable, and upgraded stormwater system through careful excavation, pipework renewal, system enhancements, and full surface reinstatement, in accordance with NCC 2022 and relevant drainage standards. A key objective was to complete the works within the contract period while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing school operations, maintaining safety, quality, and compliance throughout the delivery of this government-funded hydraulic remediation project.

OUR STRATEGY

After a thorough site evaluation, we developed a comprehensive plan to overhaul the stormwater system. Our strategy focused on upgrading stormwater pits, installing new pipes, and enhancing the overland management system for optimal water flow. Here’s how we approached the project:

Staged Delivery & Live Environment Management

To ensure minimal disruption to school operations, works were carefully planned and delivered in stages. This included:

  • Sequencing excavation and pipe replacement works to maintain safe access for students and staff
  • Establishing secure work zones with clear segregation from school activities
  • Coordinating high-impact activities outside of peak school hours where required
  • Implementing strict WHS controls and daily site supervision

This structured staging approach allowed the project to progress efficiently while maintaining a safe and fully operational school environment.

Hydraulic System Upgrade & Flood Mitigation Strategy

A key focus of the project was resolving internal drainage failures and mitigating neighbouring property flooding. This was achieved through:

  • Detailed assessment of existing stormwater deficiencies
  • Upgrading undersized and deteriorated pipework
  • Installing new drainage lines and pits to improve hydraulic capacity
  • Redirecting overland flow paths to eliminate surcharge conditions
  • Enhancing system discharge performance across the school grounds

These measures significantly improved stormwater management performance and ensured compliance with NCC 2022 and relevant Australian drainage standards.

Strong Governance, Compliance & Quality Control

Given the government-funded nature of the project, strong governance and compliance controls were critical. The strategy included:

  • Active oversight by a Licensed Builder for statutory compliance
  • Strict adherence to SINSW requirements and NCC 2022 standards
  • Ongoing quality inspections and hold-point verifications
  • Detailed documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication
  • Careful cost control and program management to ensure on-time delivery

This structured management approach ensured the project was delivered safely, compliantly, and within the contract period.

PROJECT EXECUTION - The Jannali High School [Contract ID: SINSW-24-26090]

The Stormwater Rectification Project at The Jannali High School was executed through a structured governance framework, staged construction methodology, and strong on-site leadership to ensure safe delivery within a live secondary school environment.

The project involved rectification of failing stormwater infrastructure, upgrade of internal drainage systems, mitigation of overland flow issues, and improvement of discharge performance to prevent neighbouring property flooding. Works included staged excavation, removal of deteriorated pipework, installation of new drainage lines and pits, hydraulic capacity upgrades, and full surface reinstatement in compliance with NCC 2022 and relevant Australian Standards.

Given the operational school setting, execution planning prioritised safety, access management, and minimal disruption. High-risk activities were carefully sequenced, work zones were securely isolated, and coordination with school representatives was maintained throughout the contract period.

The project was delivered within the agreed timeframe and contract value of $318,885.60 (incl. GST), demonstrating strong program control, compliance management, and quality assurance.
